In Bede’s writings in the 7th century AD he makes reference to a ‘bakehouse’ on the monastic site.
As in those days, we aim to emulate the ministry of hospitality that the ancient monastery offered to its visitors, with hot in-house made food and a warm welcome. It is run entirely by volunteers.
Bede's Bakehouse will be open every Friday and Saturday evening between 6:30pm and 9pm, whilst Sunderland Illuminations are on. The special menu includes Soup, hot dogs, and tea, coffee and snacks.
